Antibiotic treatments and somatic cell count as phenotype to map QTL for mastitis susceptibility in Holstein cattle breed

چکیده
Mastitis is one of the most significant diseases affecting dairy cattle profitability. A genome wide association study (GWAS) was performed using selective genotyping approach to identify Quantitative Trait Loci (QTL) associated with mastitis susceptibility. According received antibiotic treatments in all their productive life, 52 lactating cows have been classified resistant (no therapy and low SCC) susceptible (more than treatment high mastitis. Genotyping animals NEOGEN’s GGP Bovine 100K SNP chip QTL were identified comparing SNPs allelic frequencies between two groups. 26 related susceptibility 9 chromosomes. The use data, coupled SCC from milk recording, improved cow’s classification accuracy individuals. For this reason, mandatory recording active January 2022, could be a new source information improve genetic selection for resistance.

Confirmation and fine-mapping of clinical mastitis and somatic cell score QTL in Nordic Holstein cattle.
A genome-wide association study of 2098 progeny-tested Nordic Holstein bulls genotyped for 36 387 SNPs on 29 autosomes was conducted to confirm and fine-map quantitative trait loci (QTL) for mastitis traits identified earlier using linkage analysis with sparse microsatellite markers in the same population. We used linear mixed model analysis where a polygenic genetic effect was fitted as a rand...

متن کاملEstimation of genetic parameters for production traits and somatic cell score in Iranian Holstein dairy cattle using random regression model
In this study test-day records of milk (kg), fat (g), and protein (g) yields, somatic cell score (SCS, cells/ML) collected by Animal Breeding Center of Iran during 2007 and 2009 were used to estimate genetic parameters using random regression model. Models with different order of Legendre polynomials were compared using Bayesian information criterion (BIC).For milk, fat yield and SCS genetic an...
متن کاملAssociation of TG-repeats in the 5’-flanking region of bovine growth hormone receptor (GHR) gene with milk production traits and somatic cell count in Holstein cattle
The growth hormone receptor (GHR) is a member of cytokine/hematopoietin family that mediates the biological actions of growth hormone (GH) on target tissues. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to examine the association of TG-repeat polymorphisms in the 5’-flanking region of bovine GHR gene with milk production traits and somatic cell score (SCS) in Holstein cattle of Iran. The part of 5’...
متن کاملRelationship of Somatic Cell Count and Mastitis: An Overview
Mastitis is characterized by physical, chemical and bacteriological changes in the milk and pathological changes in the glandular tissue of the udder and affects the quality and quantity of milk. The bacterial contamination of milk from the affected cows render it unfit for human consumption and provides a mechanism of spread of diseases like tuberculosis, sore-throat, Q-fever, brucellosis, lep...
